Genetically Modified (GM) crops and seeds are modified when Bt (bacteriumBacillus thuringiensis)
is combined with insect pathogens and herbicides to produce a Bt gene threw a process called Recombinant DNA Technology Recombinant DNA, (rDNA) technology. Recombinant DNA Technology Recombinant DNA is a field of molecular biology in which scientists”edit” DNA to form new synthetic molecules, The goal of rDNA technology is to introduce recombinanted genes into a host cell so that the host cell expresses the desired modified protein to make the DNA modification. In GM food case the crops are exposed to Bt genes in order to genetically modified crop to produce seeds that are more resistant to insect,and herbicides (weed killers).

Monsanto Company, one of the a major seed company of the world. Spends billions of dollars each year growing crop in labs to produce Bt gene strains that are engineer to eliminate bug and weeds in crops in which their seeds produce on farms. Monsanto Company produce 60% of the corn seed marketed in the U.S.and 86% of those seed are Genetically Modified.
Almost like the flu strain each year, farmers purchase the most recent genetically modified strain of seed from Monsanto company. Monsanto most popular GM market seeds are known as Roundup Ready seeds. They produce crops that are resistant to Roundup. Meaning the Roundup herbicide applied to crop during growing season will eliminate unwanted weeds and bugs in crop fields but not kill crops that are being produced by the Roundup Ready seeds sold to farmers by Monsanto.
Current Roundup Ready crops include soy, corn, canola, alfalfa, cotton, and sorghum, with wheat under development. The crops produced from Roundup Ready seeds are sterile and farmers are unable to use the best seeds for next seasons.
The crop Roundup Ready is eaten by bugs and within minutes, the protein binds to their gut wall and the insect stops feeding. Within hours, the gut wall breaks down and normal gut bacteria invade the body cavity. The insect then dies of septicaemia as bacteria multiply in the blood.

Recently in this May of 2013 protest marches “March Against Monsanto” were held in 52 countries and 436 cities,The ‘March Against Monsanto’ movement began just a few months ago, when founder and organizer Tami Canal created a Facebook page Feb. 28 2013 calling for a rally against the company’s practices.
